MEOW! Patterned Denim

2.29.2012

I am jumping on board the printed denim trend train!

I scored these cheetah print skinny jeans from Divine Rights of Denim at F21 while in Nashville. So far I have not seen these on the F21 website, but they will probably being popping up on there within a few days.  They are actually really comfortable and run TTS. Now go get yourself a pair!

Nashville Fun!

2.28.2012

Nashville was exactly what my spirits needed.  I did not realize how much I needed time with my dear friends and needed to let loose and have some fun!

This pic is from our first night.  From left to right: Danielle, Me, Megan, Caroline, and Dishy Decorator.

We had dinner with Erin and Nina on Friday night and it was a hoot visiting with them. Talk about two very genuine and lovely women!  I hope that we get to meet up with them again in the future!

My OOTN for Saturday night consisted of a blazer that I borrowed from Danielle, F21 lace shorts, (I am having a lace and shorts obsession right now, so these were a fun find!)  F21 sweater, rando tights, Chanel bag, and Christian Louboutin Gressimo heels.
We had just arrived at our table (Saturday night, at Cabana) when the sweetest girl (not sure if she wants her name said on the internet so I will keep her anonymous) sent over fun shots for us!  She recognized us from the blogosphere! Thank you girl!
Lots of shopping went down! I scored my first pairs of Kendra Scott earrings and I can honestly say that I am now addicted and obsessed.  I want them in every color!
 This did not happen!  HAHA!
Whenever I travel to the South new dining experiences occur and this trip was no exception!  I did in fact have my first Cracker Barrel experience!  All I have to say about the hash brown casserole is NOM NOM NOM!
This cracked me up since my sister Autumn and I used to always pretend that we were the Duke sisters!
 How they let me on the plane with a misspelled ticket, I have no idea, but I am grateful! {The "e" is missing at the end of Anne.}
Nash, you were good to us and this was a fantastic adventure!
Now it's time to start planning our next girl's weekend!

Monday Q&A!

2.26.2012

It's Sunday night at I'm stuck in Denver because my flight to Spokane is delayed. REALLY DELAYED.

Because of all of our girls weekend fun, delayed flights, and we (Megan & I) will not be hosting Q&A Monday this week, but prepare yourselves for some fun questions next week!

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I sure know that I did! Whoop! Whoop!

Pretty Woman Moment

2.25.2012

A life without friends would be so boring! I cannot even believe how much I've been blessed with friendship!

Today in Nashville we went shopping and tore it up!

We met up with Allie (our Twitter friend) at Tory Burch and she took our pic! She was so sweet and genuine.

On top of the shopping, I received a very special gift from Jer and it was delivered to me as we were getting ready to go out.

He bought me a new purple Balnciaga "city" bag! I had been lusting over it at the mall when we were shopping and I mentioned it to him via text and a few hours later, BAAM! It was at my hotel room. This was a true "Pretty Woman" moment! I flipped out!

It went so well with my DVF dress and nude Christian Louboutin Rolando's. It was love. Purple love.

Later in the night the girls and I changed shoes & threw on coats to go back out after dinner. It was a fun night, but I tell you what, this (see below photo) fo' SHo' did not happen!

OOTD's - Wardrobe Diary

2.22.2012

It's Friday! Well it is for me anyway! Tomorrow I'm headed to Nashville for a long girl's weekend!

This is what I wore today to run errands: F21 top, Free People tissue T, Paige jeans, Rachel Zoe ankle boots.

I had to ponytail my hair today. This length is making me crazy, but I'm glad it's growing!

This is my look from yesterday: shift dress from Ann Taylor loft, F21 jacket, random leggings, Dolce Vita boots, and my cobalt Chanel flap.

Look forward to fun updates from my trip! Xo

Meeting of the Minds

2.21.2012

DVF + CURRENT ELLIOT!

This just showed up in my email in box! I am BEYOND excited about this collaboration!

Jewelry Pile

2.20.2012

This is how I found my jewelry after last night's misadventures, it was so pretty that I had to take a picture!

Q&A Monday!

Something one should NEVER do: decide that it is perfectly appropriate to record a vlog while in bed, late at night, after a birthday party where one consumed a few glasses of wine.  Yes, I am the winner that decided that this was a good idea.  My computer was ever so helpful too, since it automatically uploaded this cinematic gem to YouTube!

Normally my computer takes forever to upload anything, so this was a bit of surprise for me this morning.  Thankfully an awesome Twitter friend gave me the heads up and let me know that my video of shame was viral! At first I was mortified, had a shame attack, but then I watched it and laughed so hard at myself! One thing that I do not do is take myself too seriously, life is too short!

I have surrendered to the vlog and I will just answer the questions in written word. I think that I may have cursed myself because Megan and I were so busy this week with work and life that we just googled “10 questions” to get ideas for this week, hence the lame questions. My punishment for lame questions was to have my shame broadcasted on YouTube!  HA!

I promise to have better questions next week!

What is the best advice you've ever given and received?

Best advice that I ever received was from Jer’s late Grandmother Helen. She told me “Always be kind to one another, your husband, a friend, a stranger, anyone you encounter. Always be kind.”

Type of music you like most?

This is hard to answer; it is like trying to pick my favorite child! I love all different genres of music, everything from Frank Sinatra to Stevie Nicks to Conway Twitty to Kanye West to Tiesto, this could go on and on…I like it all except for dirty rap.

Shoe size?

Before having kids my feet were a 6.5. They spread and grew with each child. I am now a 7.5 in most shoes.

Who sent the last text message you received?

My friend Steph.

If you could meet any one person (from history or currently alive), who would it be?

My late paternal grandmother Ruth. She died when my Dad was 16.

Have you ever been fired or “let go”?

NO!

What's under your bed?

Chewed up Lady Talulah Belle toys that she hides from us!

Do you believe in love at first sight?

Yes, with friends and significant others.

What is your middle name?

Anne.  You’re shocked, I can tell.

Do you think that you are a good singer?

No.  I am tone deaf and an absolutely horrid singer.  At church I position myself between Jer and Houston (they have excellent pitch and tone) so that I can try to hear the right notes to sing!  I am a disaster!

Please let me know if you linked up by posting a link in the comments section.  I PROMISE to have better questions and answers next week.  If you have any question suggestions, please leave those in the comments section also.

OOTD'S and OOTN, Wardrobe Diary

Here are some looks that I wore this week.

My dear friend Michelle had a fantastic Birthday party last night. I wore a F21 dress, Christian Louboutin Patent Simple 100 heels and a vintage patent bag (thrift store score). You can't tell but I wore my hair straight, but with the bottom curled to flip up, 60's style.

For work I wore this classic J. CREW shift dress, sweater, and Miu Miu pumps.

I'm having an Oxford shirt moment, I'm truly obsessed. For errands I wore this J. CREW coral and white striped shirt, J Brand skinny jeans, and Kate Spade heels.

I'm excited for spring and all of the bright colors that are everywhere right now! I see myself wearing a lot of skinny jeans, bright colors, Oxford shirts, and sky high heels in the upcoming season. What trends or classic looks are you looking forward to wearing as the weather warms?

I'm Karen, You're Jack.

2.15.2012

It's Wednesday and I thought that you all might need a little giggle to get you through the mid-week morning, so I bring you the most recent text convo with my gusband, Ryan. Love him! If you do not know who Karen and Jack are, then stop reading my blog and go away. Just keeeeding. Find info about Karen and Jack HERE since you've obviously been living in a cave.

In case you are curious to know what shoes Ryan is referring to:
I could guarantee that my sweet friend is already strolling around on his yacht wearing these. Gosh I love that man! He just brings a whole lot of HAPPY to my life!

Today is Our Anniversary! Oh and That Holiday Called Valentine's Day...

2.14.2012

Last night we went out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary, our 14TH anniversary no less! *cough, cough*   I was 20 and Jer was almost 30 when we got married, old news, but thought that new readers may be interested in that tid-bit of info or I just bored you all to tears with that ridiculous redundancy. I wore an ASOS dress, Mossimo for Target faux fur jacket, Christian Louboutin heels, and my Chanel bag.

We had a really wonderful dinner and time to talk and just be ourselves {not just "Mom" and "Dad"} was much needed.  Why go out the night before our anniversary you ask? Well we wanted to be home with our kids on Valentine's Day and celebrate with a nice family dinner.

Lady Talulah Belle is my sweet Valentine every day of the year!  She wanted to wish you all a very SEKSY HOLIDAY!
Every year my Dad brings me a box of chocolates. He searches high and low to find gluten free goodies for me. *nom nom nom*

I hope that you all have a wonderful day filled with love, chocolates, flowers, and
PRESENTS!

Happy Valentine's Day! XOXO

Easy Apple Crisp

2.07.2012

My kids love apple crisp, it is a standard at our house when it comes to after school snacks and it is so easy to make! I use this recipe from Martha Stewart, except I triple the amount of cinnamon. What can I say, we love cinnamon!

Ingredients

3/4 cup all-purpose flour, (spooned and leveled)
1/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold, cut into small cubes
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (not quick-cooking)
3 pounds apples, such as Empire, Gala, or Braeburn, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2-inch chunks
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together flour, brown sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons granulated sugar. Cut butter into flour, using a pastry blender or two knives, until mixture is the texture of coarse meal. Add oats, and use your hands to toss and squeeze mixture until large, moist clumps form. Transfer to freezer to chill while you prepare apples.

In another large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar. Transfer to a shallow 2-quart baking dish, and sprinkle with topping mixture. Place baking dish on a rimmed baking sheet, and bake until golden and bubbling, 55 to 65 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes before serving.

Fur at Work

2.03.2012

Lucky for me, fur (faux) is perfectly acceptable attire for me to wear to work!
Pink again?  Yes.  I wore a Who's Who dress, with my SATC (first movie) belt, Banana Republic necklace, and my Mossimo for Target faux fur jacket with Miu Miu heels (not pictured).
I finally put together an outfit sans pink!  This kind of felt like a Mad Max moment with the studded tissue tee (F21), black jeggings (Vince) , black leather boots (Vince Camuto), and my new Halston Heritage faux fur vest, but it was a really fun look to wear!

Faux fur brings me joy.  It is a sick obsession, one of my many sick fashion obsessions.  What are you obsessing over right now?
